Dawn & Paul are both writers that fell in love while collecting vintage books & prints of birds. This love carried over to their wedding from the bridesmaids bouquets which were books -to her feathered wedding gown & little flower girl's dress.
This DIY couple handmade all the invitations, programs and gift books with the help of her Micro press company called Little Red Leaves Textiles. (www.textileseries.com)
They knew Galveston was the perfect site for their wedding since Paul grew up on the Texas coast where a number of birds migrate for the winter. We found pelicans and water birds nesting under a bridge in the Harbor. They picked an alligator grooms cake since Paul grew up in Baytown Texas- he's always been fascinated with alligators and crocodiles and even has a scar from being bitten by a baby alligator as a child. His Mom Mindee decorated the cake table into the beautiful wetland foliage of the Texas Bay.
Even though Dawn got a little green icing on her gown during the cake cutting she said
" I still giggle when I think about getting a huge green blob of icing on my dress during the cake-cutting. While the dress was ruined, the memory is priceless. The alligator cake won the day in more ways than one"!
